The news of Christian Estrosi’s “formal” return as mayor has triggered reactions from his current and former opponents.
In fact, why the surprise and how will this return change the situation?
Everyone knows that nothing will change: Christian Estrosi himself had mentioned the image of the “tandem,” making it clear that he was always the one steering.
The only curiosity lies in whether the platform seats will remain at the same height or return to their traditional arrangement: that of the mayor being higher than the others.
Shock: Resignation of the Mayor of Nice!
I am shocked to learn of the resignation of the mayor of Nice, the loyal Philippe Pradal, because Christian Estrosi has decided to become mayor of Nice again. It is unbearable to see how he can disregard the people of Nice and the citizens of the PACA region.
Indeed, less than two years after being elected as the head of the region, won at the cost of the withdrawal of the leftist list, he will have to leave the presidency, having only served a fleeting term.
Citizens are hostages to the political whims of the leader of the Nice right.
These are precisely the sort of outdated arrangements, the poor political maneuvering that citizens no longer want and have massively rejected, including in Nice, by voting for Emmanuel Macron.
The least that can be said is that not all the lessons have been learned here!

Estrosi: A Brief Role and Then He’s Gone!
Less than eighteen months after being elected President of the Region, and despite his commitments to voters, Christian Estrosi announces his resignation from this Presidency. Some will say it is to focus on his beloved city, others that it is to prevent Eric Ciotti from gaining ground in the Alpes-Maritimes, and others suspect him of wanting to become a minister under Emmanuel Macron.
In the immediate term, this presents a poor image of politics where, according to mood and tactics, one changes roles with blatant disregard for voters. After the troubling results of the far-right in France, especially in the PACA region and Alpes-Maritimes, it is urgent to change politics and the way it is conducted, and to end these maneuvers.
Robert Injey, PCF Nice
Mr. Estrosi confuses his political career with a game of Monopoly where mandates are exchanged and resumed based on the exclusive interests of a personal career. The people of Nice and the inhabitants of the PACA region will judge.
