Reactivation of the twinning between Nice and Tananarive

Latest News

Nice and Tananarive – the economic and political capital of Madagascar – have been sister cities since April 15, 1962. As part of this friendship, Rudy Salles, Deputy Mayor in charge of Tourism and International Relations, received Honoré Randriakoto, Minister Plenipotentiary and Vice-Consul of Madagascar, to explore new areas of cooperation, particularly in tourism through the training of executives in Nice, waste collection and management, and health.

The desire to revitalize the sister city relationship between the capital of the French Riviera and Tananarive is indeed very strong. Thus, on the occasion of Madagascar’s national holiday on June 26, Rudy Salles expressed his wish to celebrate the 50th anniversary of friendship between the two cities next June, involving the Malagasy diaspora of Nice. Madagascar could also be the guest of honor at the Nice Fair in 2013.

– Tananarive is a rapidly growing city. It hosts the ministries and administration, main companies, and banks. As a communication hub to all regions of the country, it is a very active commercial center. It had less than 50,000 inhabitants at the beginning of the century, and today it has nearly 2 million.
