Christian Estrosi, Mayor of Nice and President of the Nice Cรดte d’Azur Metropolis, will host Michele Giuseppe Vietti, Vice-President of the Italian High Council of the Judiciary, for a reception in his honor on Friday, March 9, 2012, at 7 PM, at Villa Massena in the presence of the Consul General of Italy Luciano Barillaro.
This will be an opportunity to reaffirm the special bond that unites the city of Nice with Italy, before one of the most influential men in the country.
The transition to Metropolis status on January 1st of this year and the new competence in international economic promotion has strengthened the cross-border link between the City of Nice and Italy. Through established cooperations, notably with Genoa and Milan in transportation, culture, environment, and sustainable development, the aim of both territories is clearly to create common synergies to enhance our appeal.
By strengthening exchanges with Italy while extending the common historical past, Christian Estrosi aims to cultivate and grow political, economic, and cultural partnerships.
High-profile Italian figure
At 58, Michele Giuseppe Vietti is among the most influential figures in Italy. A lawyer by training, he is the current Vice-President of the Italian High Council of the Judiciary, endowed with very significant powers. This role carries considerable importance in a country where the judiciary system serves as an example of complete independence of the prosecution from the executive power. There is no equivalent in Europe.
On June 9, 2011, in Rome, Michele Vietti signed a bilateral cooperation agreement between the Italian High Council of the Judiciary and the French National School for the Judiciary, formalizing concrete cooperation between the two countries.
At this reception, he will present his book entitled “LA FATICA DEI GIUSTI โ How Justice Can Work”.
