France will have received 13.6 billion from Europe by the start of 2022

France will be able to use these funds as part of its post-Covid national plan launched at the beginning of the year.

After receiving 5.1 billion euros from the European Union a few days ago, France will request this autumn a new payment of 8.5 billion, under the Next Generation EU joint recovery plan. This amount should be paid at the beginning of next year. This makes a total of 13.6 billion out of the 40 billion expected in total. At least as much is planned for the end of 2022, followed by 7 billion and 4 billion in the two subsequent years. Paris has therefore chosen to request the maximum of these EU grants within a relatively short timeframe, in order to produce a “shock” on the recovery.

Adopted with difficulty by the Twenty-Seven in the summer of 2020, the 750 billion euro recovery plan is coming to fruition for the member countries. France will be able to use these funds as part of its post-Covid national plan launched earlier this year. This includes renovating schools, hospitals, or nursing homes, modernizing railways, digitizing the economy, culture, etc.
