Starting in 2009, an extensive study was initiated on the development conditions of the Nice-Thiers station and its surroundings, with the aim of structuring and requalifying this key area of the city by creating a true Multimodal Exchange Hub that meets the transportation challenges of France’s fifth-largest city.
The implementation program, timeline, and financial estimate for this development project were approved on December 3, 2010, while the study and construction financing agreement was signed on May 20, 2011, by all partners: Nice Cรดte d’Azur (โฌ15.2 million), the General Council 06 (โฌ9.9 million), the State, the Regional Council PACA (โฌ16 million), RFF (โฌ2.7 million), and SNCF Gares & Connexions (โฌ16.4 million).
The Multimodal Exchange Hub project at the Nice-Thiers station revolves around four major objectives: improving traveler comfort and safety, completely redeveloping all station access routes to enhance inter-modality, creating a direct and rapid link between the station and the nearest tram station, and enhancing overall accessibility to the station and platforms for everyone.
