The French will vote in the departmental and regional elections. These elections occur at the same time, but the rules are not the same.
The regional elections: In each region, voters will be able to choose between several lists. To qualify for the second round, a list must obtain at least 10% of the votes. A list that receives at least 5% can merge with a list qualified for the second round. The list that comes out on top in the second round will automatically receive 25% of the seats. The remaining seats are distributed proportionally among all lists that have obtained more than 5%.
For the departmental elections, candidates run in pairs made up of a man and a woman. The two pairs with the most votes and those who manage to obtain more than 12.5% of the registered voters’ votes qualify for the second round.
A strict health protocol has been planned. The poster from Santรฉ publique France reminding people of the correct barrier gestures to respect must be displayed “readably” at the entrance of each polling station.
