After the political drama surrounding the LR and LREM lists, a similar scenario is about to unfold with the ecologist and left-wing lists. Their agreement has collapsed, and they will be fragmented in this election. Definitelyโฆ
Cap Ecologie and its co-president, Jean-Marc Governatori from Nice, announced this Saturday that they will ultimately run alone for the regional elections in Provence-Alpes-Cรดte-d’Azur, leaving the list led by EELV just after forming a union with the PS and the PCF.
โThe composition of the lists within the ecologist group led by EELV gave too much space to left-wing forces. It has become a left-wing list with some ecologist elements,โ explained Jean-Marc Governatori to AFP.
A former discount furniture entrepreneur, Jean-Marc Governatori stands out in the ecologist sphere, and his presence on the ecologist group’s list in Paca was criticized by some on the left for a stance considered too right-leaning.
Nevertheless, this departure in Paca does not call into question Cap Ecologie’s presence, a party co-chaired with former Environment Minister Corinne Lepage, within the ecologist group at the national level in preparation for the presidential election, Jean-Marc Governatori assured AFP.
On Friday, Jean-Laurent Fรฉlizia, a figure unknown to the general public and appointed as the head of the list for EELV in Paca and the ecologist group, announced his alliance with PS, PCF, and Benoรฎt Hamon’s movement Gรฉnรฉrationโs. But this alliance was made without Jean-Luc Mรฉlenchon’s France Insoumise (LFI) and other political and citizen formations who signed a rival call for the union of all left-wing forces, named โIt is time.โ
