The birth was not without pain because ideas are beautiful but positions are precious and coveted. Finally, the baby is here and after agreement among the different parties to bring this list called “The Cooperative Region” to life, it’s time to present the names of those who will represent it before the voters.
In the Alpes-Maritimes, the leading duo will consist of Cécile Dumas (PCF) and Laurent Lanquar (EE-LV).
The list “The Cooperative, Social, Ecologist, and Citizen Region with co-leaders Sophie Camard and Jean-Marc Coppola” aims to support a new political space where citizens have the voice and means to influence public policies.
This unifying list is the result of a cooperation between the components of the Left Front, Europe Ecology – The Greens, and civil society. This is why it is called the Watermelon list (green on the outside and red on the inside).
Because, for now, we’re dealing with grand statements: “It’s high time for a Cooperative Region” – says Sophie Camard, who at least appears to be the ideologist. She adds: “It’s an opportunity and a necessity.”
The communist Jean-Marc Coppola, on the other hand, acts as the attentive master-chef of the dishes (in the figurative sense).
Furthermore, recent events are a golden opportunity to make their voice heard and begin criticism of their political competitors in this election:
“The climate should not, however, be an excuse to hide the aggravating circumstances of uncontrolled urban planning on the Côte d’Azur, which does not take into account the IPCC’s recommendations: land artificialization, destruction of agricultural lands and fragmentation, constructions in flood-prone areas, poor evaluation of runoff risks and flood expansion zones. The so-called ‘Eco-Valley’ Var Plain project, supported by some elected officials, presents such a risk.”
