It had been in the air for some time, but in politics, a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush. Now, it’s confirmed: Olivier Bettati will indeed be the head of the FN list in the Alpes-Maritimes for the upcoming regional elections.
At the same time, Marc-André Domergue, who remained loyal to Marie-Christine Arnautu after the internal crisis within the frontist group at the Nice municipal council in spring 2014, is being rewarded and becomes the departmental leader of the party.
The few (organized?) dissensions among militants, of course, had no influence on the deliberations of the national bodies.
Now, the FN is organized and ready for an electoral campaign that promises to be electrifying and, according to early polls, open to all outcomes.
It was Marion Maréchal-Le Pen who made the announcement yesterday afternoon:
“Today (editor’s note: yesterday) the political bureau and the CNI have designated the new National Front Departmental Secretary as well as the person who will lead the regional list in the Alpes-Maritimes. These are respectively Marc-André Domergue and Olivier Bettati. These choices are true to the ambition I have displayed from the outset: to embody a new united and dedicated patriotic generation to lift the region out of socialist stagnation. These candidates promise to offer us a campaign of engagement and proposals.”
The person concerned, himself, warns the critics: “I was thrilled by the quality of Marion’s analysis. Her speech takes me back 25 years to the RPR. She represents the future of the right.”
The loop is closed, and there remains the curiosity of knowing whether the Identitarians and particularly their historic leader, Philippe Vardon, will be part of the “new team” or not?
