The list of candidates who will accompany their lead candidate Christian Estrosi in the attempt to win the regional presidency was unveiled last night, following the approval of the Republicans’ national nomination committee (of which the Mayor of Nice is the president).
Due to electoral alliances, it is composed of members of the Republican party, the UDI, the MODEM with whom an agreement was finalized, Chasse Pêche Nature et Traditions (CPNT), the National Center of Independents and Peasants (CNI), the Movement for France (MPF), and the Christian Democratic Party (PCD).
Naturally, the Republicans take the lion’s share with their traditional allies of the UDI while the other groups will play a supplementary role.
In a statement, Christian ESTROSI expressed his delight at having “crafted a broad coalition list that reflects the richness and diversity of our region”.
Looking at the composition of the Alpes-Maritimes list, it is a mix of loyalists and allies, several who are deserving, and others rewarded for services rendered.
Finally, it cannot be said that the list makes much space for young people and civil society.
A breath of fresh air comes from the presence in the second slot of Christelle d’INTORNI, 30 years old, lawyer and the youngest Mayor of the Alpes-Maritimes (commune of Rimplas, 141 inhabitants).
