Regional Elections: In Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur, Environmentalists and Left-Wing Parties Unite Without LFI

Latest News

The Varois Jean-Laurent Félizia (Europe Ecology-The Greens) will lead a list bringing together the Socialist Party, the Communist Party, and Génération.S. Having been set aside, La France Insoumise is considering an independent candidacy.

The “Ecological and Social Rally” has presented its candidates for the regional elections. Joint lists across the six departments of the Southeast unite the ecological bloc led by Europe Ecology-The Greens (EELV) and Cap Ecologie, the Socialist Party (PS), the Communist Party (PCF), Génération.S, the Radical Left Party (PRG), and Place Publique.

This candidacy will be embodied at the regional level by the Varois Jean-Laurent Félizia, an EELV elected official from Le Lavandou. A 52-year-old landscaper, business leader, and environmental activist since 2009, who is completely unknown to the general public, will take on media heavyweights Renaud Muselier, the outgoing President for Les Républicains (LR), Thierry Mariani, a European deputy and leader of the National Rally (RN), and likely the list of Sophie Cluzel, Secretary of State representing the presidential majority, who announced on Friday morning that she would run.

With a clear objective, to bring the left and the ecologists back into an assembly they have been absent from since 2015, even if it means creating a three-way race in the second round.
