In fact, the functioning of democratic institutions provides for a majority that governs and a minority that opposes.
Before disappointment turns into anger and the calls from socialist leaders to choose him in the name of an unprecedented Republican Front (in fact, it’s one-sided because the LR decided to keep their lists in all cases) go unanswered, Christian Estrosi offers them compensation: the creation of a “territorial council for everyone to express themselves on collective life.”
The compensation is not “royal,” but the operational regulations of a territorial community do not allow just anything either.
In a show of generosity, he goes even further by holding an annual session during which the leaders of the “parties that could have had elected members” (the phrasing requires clarification) would have the right to give their opinion on the budget and significant investments. An advisory opinion, of course.
Additionally, one can imagine some generosity in the granting of subsidies to associations gravitating around the left-wing galaxy, which, in 18 years of socialist power, have certainly made themselves comfortable, as expected.
In short, good neighborly relations, including in the reorganization of the regional bureaucracy, which Christian Estrosi has promised to scrutinize closely to find financial means for implementing his program.
