The reopening of theaters may have inspired the leaders of the Les Rรฉpublicains party to stage a small burlesque play, certainly nice, but not very conceivable for politicians with national ambitions.
The saga of supporting Renaud Muselier’s candidacy in the regional elections in Provence-Alpes-Cรดte d’Azur should be definitively settled following the strategic committee (the second in a few days!) which reconfirmed it this Tuesday, after having already granted it last week.
The 22 “strategists” of the party voted mostly for this solution, with two votes against, four abstentions (a fifth could not be counted due to the physical absence of the person who, if present, would have voted the same).
Among the “opponents” is Eric Ciotti, who the day before had the departmental committee he chairs vote for the withdrawal of support for Renaud Muselier and, by this fact, finds himself disavowed by the national body.
Now that the end of recess has been signaled, will everything return to order or will there be a queue? What will the Maralpin departmental committee do? Will it fall into line or continue its solitary dissent? Given the unpredictability of the actors, anything is possible!
“In continuity and proud of the achievements of the past mandate, we wish for Renaud Muselier’s victory, thus preventing the shift to the National Rally” in the Paca region, stated the boss of the Les Rรฉpublicains party, following the strategic council this Tuesday, during which some advocated for the withdrawal of LR’s endorsement of the outgoing candidate at the head of “Our Region First”.
Politically speaking, Eric Ciotti missed his target. It is not very clear why, after the LR strategic committee had initially granted support to Renaud Muselier, he took an initiative in the opposite direction at the departmental level, only to participate in a meeting the following day that confirmed the first decision again, thereby disavowing him and placing him in an uncomfortable position, that of a soldier sacrificed by the higher-ups for greater reasons.
After accusing Renaud Muselier of complicity with the Macronists, due to the presence of certain candidates on his list, he is now suspected of having tried to favor, through his action, the RN/DN list of Thierry Mariani: “He is already complicit with the National Rally, well he should join them”, declared Sophie Cluzel, who played the role of scout (as the ephemeral head of a never-formed REM list) in the rapprochement between the Macronists and Renaud Muselier.
True or not, this is the sad epilogue for those who lost the game.
