With over 225,000 new cases each year, Alzheimer’s disease has become a national issue addressed through the Alzheimer Plan 2008-2012.
Aware of the seriousness of this significant disease, the city of Nice and the Memory Resource and Research Center (CMRR) of Nice are actively involved in the fight against Alzheimer’s disease by:
ร Organizing the prevention of memory loss,
ร Improving living conditions for patients,
ร Studying this still poorly understood disease,
ร Providing answers and support to patients and their families.
Since March 2010, the city of Nice and the CMRR of the Nice University Hospital have been organizing memory workshops as part of prevention efforts.
They are free, intended for residents of Nice aged 65 and older. These workshops offer a program of varied and fun exercises applicable to daily life to stimulate and maintain memory. Epidemiological and fundamental research carried out in recent years has shown that nutrition, physical exercise, memory function training, and social activities play an important role in maintaining good levels of memory capacity.
The fall 2012 workshop sessions will begin on September 24 for a duration of 12 weeks (one session per week, lasting 1.5 hours).
ร A few spots are still available; interested individuals can still register by calling the Health Center of the city of Nice at 04.97.13.29.76.
These workshops are reserved for those who have not participated in previous sessions.
