Rehabilitation project of the Haliotis wastewater treatment plant: there will indeed be a public consultation.

Latest News

The Haliotis wastewater treatment plant currently processes the sewage from 19 municipalities, stretching from the left bank of the Var to Cap dโ€™Ail. Although the water treatment meets standards, the Nice Cรดte dโ€™Azur metropolis is considering a complete rehabilitation of the complex as part of an ecological transition strategy.

With the rehabilitation of this complex, the metropolis aims to achieve several objectives such as environmental excellence, enhanced landscape integration, and energy recovery from wastewater before it is discharged into the sea.

In the same way it has done for major developments like the tramway or the extension of the Paillon promenade, the City of Nice is committed to participatory democracy and is keen to let its residents express their expectations.

Thus, with this same goal in mind, it seeks to involve the population in this wastewater treatment plant rehabilitation project. The City of Nice has therefore contacted the National Commission for Public Debate (CNDP), which deemed it appropriate to organize a preliminary public consultation. The CNDP, whose mission is to “ensure public participation in the development process of national interest projects of the State,” has appointed two experts to oversee the proper conduct of the process.

This public consultation will begin in early 2022.
