Nice Premium: Tell us about your beginnings in this adventure, when? Where? How? And most importantly, why?

bouton_videos.jpgRemi Gaillard: Originally, it was a bet with friends. I was watching some hidden camera pranks by Pascal Sellem on a channel. I thought that anyone could appear on TV. They all thought I was crazy, telling me I was nothing and that I would never do it… So I started with street interviews and very quickly I made a video tape of over 30 minutes! I took this tape and went up to Paris to meet Christophe Dechavanne. At the time, I adored him… since then, he has stolen my ideas!

NP: What is your favorite sketch? And the one you dream of doing?

RG: If I had to defend one, it would be the one where I play Inspector Jacob. No one likes it, so it’s my favorite. On the other hand, it would be great to prank Nicolas Sarkozy, but it seems very difficult unless he comes to visit Montpellier! Anyway, it’s clear, my sketches are never planned in advance, I improvise based on current events.

NP: If you had to go on vacation with a showbiz personality, who would you choose?

RG: I would choose Eric Cantonna, but if I had to stay a long time, I would take… a woman of course!

NP: With which showbiz personality wouldn’t you go on vacation?

RG: Maybe Arthur! However, I wouldn’t mind going with his wife… As for Showbiz, I don’t only have good memories, like when I crashed the set of Michaël Youn’s Morning Live. No one would invite me on the shows, so I invited myself! I left him a copy of my tape and 15 days later, he redid everything: same scene, same editing… in short, a total plagiarism!

NP: If you had to work with someone in SHOWBIZ?

RG: I haven’t met everyone in Paris, but speaking from a human point of view, I found Vincent Lagaff and Patrick Sébastien very nice. They are the only two who have helped me and gave me a boost.

NP: Your next TV appearances?

bouton_exploit.jpgRG: It’s working very well abroad, in Spain, Germany, or Australia… simply elsewhere than in France. I’ve been contacted several times by the company Endemol to participate in shows, but very often they send me a bottle of wine home to tell me that finally… it’s not possible anymore. It remains average in France, but I have my little idea about it! Currently, I’m preparing sports sequences for the channel Eurosport and I’m also shooting the sequel to my Rocky parody!

NP: Tell us a bit about the contest you are organizing on www.nimportequi.com?

RG: In fact, interested people can post their video on YouTube or Dailymotion and send me the link by email. If it’s funny, I share it on my site with great pleasure! So far, I haven’t received enough videos yet. Calling all amateurs…

NP: You know the inauguration of the Tramway in Nice is coming up, aren’t you tempted to come over?

RG: We’ll see… however, I’d love to take a tour at the Stade du Ray dressed as an eaglet! That could be fun. I already announce to you that if Montpellier is promoted to L1, I’ll be there! Otherwise, I plan to come to the French Riviera for the Cannes Festival as I do every year.
