Removal from electoral lists: An emergency meeting of the review commission requested by Christian Estrosi

Latest News

Following the complaints from several candidates, who have echoed protests from numerous citizens who discovered they had been removed from the electoral lists, and the likely announced appeals, Christian Estrosi took hold of the problem before it could grow too large and, consequently, less manageable.

municipales_2014-35.jpg In fact, the explanations given by those responsible for managing the removals, as well as elections in general, satisfied no one.

The claim that in 2008 the removals were even more numerous than this year is not an explanation in itself, except when placed in the context of statistical analysis and comparison between these two elections. However, in this case, it is important to understand why citizens were (unjustly?) temporarily deprived of their right to vote.

In times when it is already very difficult to mobilize voters (45% abstention in the first round), one certainly cannot afford to deny a few thousand who wish to vote the opportunity to do so…

Then, it will be necessary to find an effective and lasting solution to ensure this does not happen again in the future… close to the municipal second round and European elections.

To be continued!

Here is his statement: โ€œIn response to this situation affecting all voters, regardless of their political beliefs, I urgently request a meeting with the representatives of the electoral list review commission: a representative from the Prefecture, the Magistrates’ Court, and the Nice City Hall, to facilitate the re-registration process for removed individuals able to justify their residence in Nice.โ€
