This evening, at 8:45 PM, at Stade du Ray, OGC Nice faces Stade Rennais led by Frédéric Antonetti in the Round of 32 of the French Cup. The team from Nice will need to confirm the good form they’ve shown in previous rounds of the two national cups, particularly the mentally won semi-final against Dijon in the League Cup (3-3, 5-2 on penalties). This match will somewhat be the “highlight” of this round of 32 as Nice and Rennes are the only two Ligue 1 clubs facing each other directly. In the previous round, Nice easily overcame Marck, a CFA 2 club, winning 2-0.

Two clubs weakened by the Africa Cup of Nations

René Marsiglia, the coach from the Côte d’Azur, will again have to do without his four players who have left for the Africa Cup of Nations (Coulibaly, Diakité, Mouloungui, and Palun) as well as Kevin Anin, the club’s new signing from Wednesday, who is not eligible for the match. On the Rennes side, former Nice coach Frédéric Antonetti faces the same issue. The Breton coach will be without Mangane, Pitroipa, Boye, and Hadji, who have gone to Gabon and Guinea. Boukari and Pajot are injured, while Théophile-Catherine is suspended.

Kick-off is tonight at 8:45 PM. In the league, Nice and Rennes met at Stade du Ray last December 6. The Aiglons won 2-0.

The Nice squad: Fernandez, Ospina, Clerc, Civelli, Monzon, Gomis, Malaga, Diacko, Sablé, Digard, Abriel, Meriem, Hellebuyck, Mounier, Dja Djedje, Guié Guié, Goncalves, Bahoken.
