The city of Nice has launched an extensive renovation plan for the Madeleine district. Objective: to modernize, revitalize, and of course, meet the expectations of the residents.
La Madeleine, a landmark district of the hills of Nice, is set to undergo a profound transformation. The project, named “Plan Madeleine 2025-2027,” involves an investment of 20 million euros over three years. The goal is to modernize infrastructure, strengthen social ties, and revitalize the local economy while preserving the district’s identity.
This project is structured around four main axes. First, the living environment will be improved through greening and the creation of public spaces. A new green space, designed as a “tree-filled oasis,” will emerge at 16 Boulevard de la Madeleine. Sidewalks will be renovated, and the central strip will be transformed into a green zone.
At the same time, parking infrastructure will be optimized. A 320-space parking lot will be built at 169 Boulevard de la Madeleine, accompanied by two smaller new public parking lots.
Citizen consultation upstream
Local commerce will also be at the heart of this transformation. A commercial preemption strategy aims to attract businesses that meet the needs of residents. A new Public Services House will open its doors in 2026. It will host municipal services, a police station, and a public writer.
To strengthen social ties, the project includes activities for all ages. A community center dedicated to associations will be established. Initiatives targeting young people, families, and seniors will be put in place, such as sports activities or social gatherings.
The project relies on a broad consultation conducted in 2024. Residents expressed their needs: more parking, active commerce, and welcoming living spaces. These expectations guided the design of the plan, developed with experts in territorial diagnostics.
La Madeleine will soon be equipped with modern facilities, green spaces, and renewed commercial dynamism. A project that aims to preserve the village spirit of the district while making it more attractive and functional.
Key dates of the project:
- Early 2025: Launch of the construction for the Public Services House.
 - Mid-2025: Delivery of new parking lots at 160-162 Boulevard de la Madeleine and Rue d’Armรฉnie.
