The Socialist “rebels” are not only at the national level… Even the Alpes-Maritimes has its own. Strongly in the minority in a party that is in turn strongly in the minority in the most right-wing department in France, but not therefore silent.

The socialist faction grouped under “Now the Left” is calling for a different economic and social policy compared to that of the socialist government. Hence, the opening of an internal front, the “revolt.”
For now, voters have not shown appreciation at the polls for this double talk, seeing that a majority is a majority, and this Socialist Party, where everyone has an opinion, might not be the most suitable for such a complex and difficult situation.
Nonetheless, every idea is entitled to citizenship… The most difficult part is making a synthesis of them!
Contribution to the Renovation of PS06
As leaders of the Now the Left faction in the department, we wish to make our contribution.
We would, however, like to emphasize that “renovation,” necessary at all times, cannot replace questioning the current government’s policy, which has led the party as a whole to an unprecedented series of electoral defeats.
The “renovation of the Federation,” like the “States General” that the party is preparing to launch at the national level, cannot be mere showcases to keep militants busy with consensual topics to prevent debates from crystallizing around economic and social policies.
With this contribution, we make 10 concrete proposals:
Lead the cultural struggle
Implement initial training for members (as proposed in the federal questionnaire)
Make the Secretariat for Training a central body of the Federation, equipped with resources, offering a catalog of trainings, traveling to sections, and providing follow-up.
Organize book loans or a system promoting book exchanges between members
Reconnect with social movements: establish a dialogue space with associations and unions by organizing regular meetings and debates.
An Open and Interactive Federation
Create a space for exchanges between all the Federation’s militants (Facebook group, discussion list, …)
Encourage sections to use city, agglomeration, or metropolitan committees to allow members from neighboring sections to meet
Organize a second circle of “active sympathizers” around members who, without participating in the Party’s internal life, could mobilize on specific topics or campaigns. Create spaces for dialogues and debates on various topics (local ones included).
Decentralize the Federation: organize open conferences and Federal Councils for all members outside of Nice
Implement non-consecutive terms (the limit can be set to 2 terms) for the position of Federal First Secretary and significant parliamentary or local executive mandates, allowing for renewal.
Recreate the Conditions for Left Unity
Set up “Departmental Forums of the Left” and regular thematic exchanges with our left partners on various topics (local or national) to find common ground, acknowledge our disagreements beforehand, and recreate the conditions for trust.
