After the speech by Dominique De Villepin in Paris on June 19, 2010, which announced the formation of his new political movement, République Solidaire installs its framework and clarifies its organization.
The Villepinist parliamentarians – still members of the UMP – have divided the themes of reflection to “prepare the alternative” in 2012.
The national elected officials who have shown support for République Solidaire include 12 deputies and 1 senator: Daniel Garrigue, Jean Ueberschlag, Marie-Anne Montchamp, Guy Geoffroy, François Goulard, Jean-Pierre Grand, Jacques le Guen, Marc Barnier, Michel Raison, Georges Tron, Nicolas Dupont-Aignan, Hervé Mariton (whose effective adherence we doubt), and Pierre Jarlier (Senator).
“We are waiting for the appointment of departmental secretaries, and I am maintaining the coordination of our activities in the Alpes-Maritimes as the local leader of the Villepin Clubs, which will disappear. In a few weeks, the new organization will be in place, allowing us to be operational at the start of the school year after the holidays,” declares Alain Chateau.
NP: How do you think citizens could be interested in a new political movement?
Alain Chateau: The personality of Dominique de Villepin can represent hope in the face of the current governance failure of the country.
If one does not identify with the left-wing ideas of pure opposition, we need to rediscover values that are certainly not those of the UMP, which has become an electoral machine serving a single person, Nicolas Sarkozy, or locally a single representative, Christian Estrosi.
Naming our movement République Solidaire reminds us precisely of the forgotten sovereign values of the Republic and the social values of Solidarity. Unfortunately, both have been neglected by the current regime.
Today’s challenge is the fate of France.
