Benoรฎt Hamon confirmed the test and widely won the left-wing primary
The deputy from Yvelines took 58.88% of the votes in the second round, against 41.12% for his rival Manuel Valls, according to partial results communicated by the High Authority of the primary in about 74% of the polling stations.
The former Minister of National Education, who was the first to declare his candidacy in August 2016, managed to impose his themes during the campaign, particularly with his proposal for a universal income.
In the Alpes-Maritimes last Sunday for the first round of the primary organized by the PS, a total of 16,791 people turned out to one of the 82 polling stations in the department.
Participation in the second round was better: “gathering more than 20,000 voters is a collective pride for our more than 500 activists and volunteers, whom I thank from the bottom of my heart for their investment,” communicated Xavier Garcia, the federal secretary of PS06, in the evening.
The leader confirms that Benoรฎt Hamon came out on top even in this department, which last Sunday favored Manuel Valls: “Even though in our department the score is tighter, Benoรฎt Hamon’s victory is unequivocal, and I take note of it. It is now up to him to create the conditions for unity after a quinquennial of divisions on the left, and a political dynamic that we have otherwise sorely lacked until now.”
