Promoted to Nationale 1 after an emotional 2023-2024 season, Cavigal Nice Handball continues its ascent towards professionalism. The team from Nice is now ready to take on new challenges with ambitious goals.
The 2023-2024 season will be remembered by Cavigal Nice Handball. Competing in the Nationale 2 Menโs, the Aiglons quickly displayed their ambitions. Following a convincing start against Prades-Le-Lez (33-21), they secured consecutive victories, suffering only two losses in the first half, against Saint-Raphaรซl (36-35) and Frontignan (27-27). This consistency allowed them to take the lead in group 6 at the start of 2024.
With 17 wins in 22 matches, Cavigal finished first in their group with 58 points. On April 27, the team from Nice confirmed their promotion to Nationale 1 by defeating Antibes (34-26). Alexis Bon, one of the teamโs key players, finished as the third top scorer of the season with 124 goals.
The last home game, won (40-37) against Avignon, was an opportunity to celebrate this success with the supporters.
Clear Goals for the 2024-2025 Season
Buoyed by this promotion, Cavigal approached the 2024-2025 season in Nationale 1 with a structured project. Placed in a demanding group, the team faces reserve teams from Starligue and Proligue clubs, such as Montpellier and Chambรฉry. โWe aim for the top 5,โ announced the club. In the longer term, the club aspires to achieve promotion to Proligue within three years.
To achieve these objectives, Cavigal strengthened with experienced recruits. Kristian Vassilev (Massy), Luca Luiset and John Nkonda (Cournon) joined the squad, as well as Dylan Lopez (Draguignan) and Carlos Robles (Bagnols). These arrivals compensate for the departures of Kelian Bique, Adrian Ruiz Carpio, and Oscar Mainar.
Following a serious preparation marked by three wins in four friendly matches, the team from Nice had a strong start to the season against Chambรฉry. This was a full-scale test to gauge the competitiveness of this new group in the new division. A series of victories followed, propelling them to the top of their group 4. While the club experienced a dry spell during October, the Maralpins regained their form towards the end of the year. With a record of seven wins, one draw, and three losses, the team from Nice is currently third in the championship.
Cavigal Nice Handball is ready to write a new chapter, with the hope of laying the groundwork for a future in Proligue.
