That the revocation of nationality is a symbolic measure without real effectiveness, everyone is convinced. No repressive measure can intimidate Islamist terrorists who have made suicide the ultimate goal of their “commitment”.
But we are at war, and as emotions fade, a part of public opinion seems to have forgotten this.
In this war, Daesh uses symbolism as a weapon of mass destruction against our democracies (choice of targets, places, dates, modes of attacks or executions). Therefore, I do not find it shocking that the Republic in turn uses this weapon. In respect of its values: those of a State of Law.
And at a time when the country needs unity and cohesion, perhaps it is time to put an end to the posturing and this vain controversy…
