Following our article yesterday about a possible increase in Semiacs parking fees, the Nice Cรดte d’Azur Metropolis requested the right to reply, which we grant without any issue. However, we emphasize the interrogative form of the articleโs title.
During the last Board of Directors meeting of SEMIACS, the General Director presented the 2014 budget. On this occasion, he was asked to consider, with a constant financial envelope, hypotheses for changing on-street parking fees. Beyond tariff stability, a hypothesis for lowering the first-hour rate and increasing the second-hour rate was presented.
The aforementioned hypotheses allowed for a debate within the Board of Directors, which played its role as a forum for discussion and reflection. There was no resolution on the Board of Directors’ agenda regarding the modification of on-street parking fees, of which only the overall financial envelope was mentioned in the budget.
Furthermore, only the municipality could decide through a resolution to increase the fees. The Nice Cรดte d’Azur Metropolis remains the sole decision-maker in this matter.
The Deputy Mayor of Nice, President of the Nice Cรดte d’Azur Metropolis:
“In accordance with my previous commitments, no increase in on-street parking will be proposed to preserve the purchasing power of the people of Nice.โ
