Presentation of the 10,000th pedestrian license
Nice is the first city with more than 350,000 inhabitants to have implemented the “Pedestrian License” in 2008, with the support of the Municipal Police and the National Education. The objective of this initiative in schools is to educate second-grade (CE2) students, in a fun and educational way, about the precautionary rules that allow them to ensure their own safety as pedestrians in the city.
Since the 2008/2009 school year, approximately 3,000 second-grade students each year have been made aware of the dangers of the road by the “School Environment Prevention” department of the Safety and Protection Directorate of the city of Nice.
This Wednesday, the 10,000th pedestrian license will be awarded to a second-grade student.
3rd School Road Safety Trophy: responsible behavior on the road
The team from the school environment prevention brigade of the Safety and Protection Directorate of the city of Nice and the National Education are offering 50 fifth-grade (CM2) students, selected during road safety evaluations conducted throughout the year by Municipal Police officers, the opportunity to participate in the 3rd School Road Safety Trophy.
The goal is to raise awareness among children about the dangers of the road and the importance of following safety rules, to teach them to assess risks, and to encourage them to adopt responsible behavior. After theoretical and practical tests, the winner and all participants will be rewarded.
