Road safety: the number of road deaths falls by 20% in February

Latest News

The number of people killed on the roads of mainland France in February saw a 20% decrease compared to February 2020, with 175 deaths, which is 45 fewer than the previous year, announced Road Safety this Monday.

The curfew and the use of remote working partially explain this decrease in road mortality in mainland France, according to the National Interministerial Road Safety Observatory (ONISR).

Last month, 96 drivers and 23 pedestrians were among those who lost their lives on the roads. Road mortality in France reached its lowest historical level since the post-war period in 2020, with a total of 2,550 victims, largely attributed to the reduction in traffic caused by the health crisis.
