The Left Front candidate Robert Injey continues his tour of Nice with inaugurationsโฆ
The Filley Barracks is located on one of the oldest sites in the city of Nice, marked by the installation of the Augustinians in 1405. A site that has barely evolved since the transformation of the convent into barracks in 1821-1822, thus preserving a very strong mark of our city’s history. Today, its military purpose is essentially limited to accommodating about a hundred young people each day, within the framework of the “Defence and Citizenship Day.”
For Robert Injey: “There is no justification for maintaining a military presence in Old Nice. The time has come to return this space to the people of Nice. Given its location at the entrance to Old Nice and near the port, and the available space, these barracks can become a place of memory and creation.”
The proposals:
โ Place of memory with the installation, in front of the Catherine Sรฉgurane monument, of a museum of our city’s local history. A museum that is sorely lacking today and would have a larger museum space here than the intentions of Christian Estrosi at Place Saint Franรงois.
โ Place of creation with the establishment of artists’ workshops that are also sorely lacking in our city, particularly in the city center.
“This local history museum and artists’ workshops will be the heart of this new ‘Espace Filley,’ open to the city,” concludes the Left Front candidate in Nice.
