Latest News

Eliminated in singles, Diane Parry continues her adventure in doubles with her compatriot Caroline Garcia. This Friday on Court No. 7, which was packed, the two players delighted the home crowd.

Diane Parry isn’t finished with her Roland-Garros 2025 run. Eliminated harshly in the first round in singles, the player from Nice plans to enjoy herself on the court in doubles. Playing in women’s doubles with Caroline Garcia, the French pair was competing in the second round. After defeating Miyu Kato and Aldila Sutjiadi, two doubles specialists, they faced another experienced pair consisting of Makoto Ninomiya and Qianhui Tang. The first, of Japanese origin, won the Saint-Malo doubles tournament at the beginning of May. The second, from China, recently reached a final in Parma and a semifinal in Rabat.

Although the players on the court aren’t used to playing together, they adapted perfectly to produce a great duel. While the start of the match quickly went in favor of the Asian duo, Caroline Garcia and Diane Parry quickly reacted. Buoyed by the crowd chanting “Allez Diane, allez Caro,” the French pair managed to relax. Despite some small misunderstandings during the match, they found solutions notably through Diane Parry’s forehand. The player from Nice regularly managed to read the opponent’s game to counter and create openings.

As the match progresses, the confidence shifts to the French side. After losing the first set (3-6), they regained their smile as they turned the tide in the second set, which they won (6-4) after tough baseline battles. Taking advantage of a noticeable service weakness from their opponents, Diane Parry and Caroline Garcia showcased their power in returns. The chemistry between the soon-to-retire player and the new generation of French women’s tennis did the rest.

Diane Parry and Caroline Garcia won in three sets (3-6, 6-4, 6-2) in 2 hours and 10 minutes. In the next round, they will play a Russian team that is among the favorites, composed of Diana Shnaider (21 years old, 12th in the world in singles) and Mirra Andreeva (18 years old, 6th in the world in singles). Two very young players who have been playing together for a long time despite their age.

But before that, Diane Parry will likely play tomorrow in mixed doubles with another compatriot, Harold Mayot. The pair already eliminated in the first round an experienced duo consisting of former world No. 1 in doubles Nicolas Mahut and Chloé Paquet.
