After a satisfactory start to the season, the Nice Angels will face off against the Anglet Artzak for the third day of the French Elite Championship.
While some have been critical of the play and offensive performance of the double reigning French champions, the facts are clear. After two games, Anglet has two victories and is already at the top of the standings. With top-notch recruitment and playing at home, it won’t be an easy task for the team coached by Thomas Fontana from Nice. Especially since the Basque team doesnโt seem inclined to let slip their first points this season.
For the Azur team, the season started well but is far from perfect. After a convincing win in Reims on the first day, the Angels struggled to secure a draw at home against Paris XIII. Despite some good phases of play, the Nice hockey players remain too undisciplined and concede too many goals as a result.
This is a detail that will be crucial against Anglet’s formidable power play. If the Angels want to bring back points from the Basque Country, they will need to iron out these imperfections and regain their defensive solidity from last season.
NRA coach Thomas Fontana is well aware: “Playing against a French champion club and European runner-up is always a significant moment in an athlete’s career. However, we must avoid having any complexes, be particularly rigorous, and avoid penalties like in the first two matches if we want to achieve an upset in the Basque Country.”
The match is scheduled for 6 PM at the Pignada Hall and can be followed live and in full on Artzak TV.
