After its success in Paris, the exhibition on Romy Schneider is moving to the Palais des Festivals et des Congrรจs from July 2, 2012, to September 2, 2012, for the 30th anniversary of the star’s passing. Over 800 square meters at the Palais des Festivals et des Congrรจs in Cannes (in the Mediterranean hall) are dedicated to the most French of German artists.
Rarely has an actress been so beautiful and moving at the same time. Rarely has a performer, who entered history at such a young age, accomplished such an exemplary career, precisely by seeking, driven by an immense desire for the absolute, to escape her own legend. Rarely has a star been so blessed by the gods and yet so struck by fate. Rarely has a woman been so luminous and yet so tormented. Rarely has a foreigner embodied France to such an extentโฆ
Built on the basis of a chronological journey, which will not shy away from jumps in time, the exhibition, divided into a succession of thematic spaces, will immerse the visitor in the heart of the life and career of Romy Schneider, all marked by passion.
It is all these paradoxes that this exhibition aims to highlight. Rare documents, personal objects, professional memories, unpublished photos, and testimonials will indeed tell the story of an actress and a passionate woman who, far beyond the screen, has touched viewers’ hearts in their most personal, secret, and profound aspects, while accompanying the history of the century.
