As part of a solidarity initiative conducted by the Rotary clubs of District 1730, the Rotary Club Nice Port Lympia proceeded with the presentation of 150 coloring books to the ALC association (Acting for Social Link and Citizenship), at its offices in Nice, this Wednesday, January 14. These 20-page books, accompanied by boxes of colored pencils, are designed to be offered free of charge to children aged 6 to 10 years. The aim is to provide a moment of creativity, relaxation, and escape. The books will be distributed in several centers of the ALC association, which provides daily support to young children and their families.
This action is part of a larger project supported by several Rotary clubs, aiming to use drawing and color as tools for comfort and expression for children.

Protecting and Integrating, at the Heart of ALC’s Missions

ALC is an association providing assistance to people in difficulty and child protection present throughout the Alpes-Maritimes and beyond. The association’s mission rests on two axes: protection and integration.

The protection mission concerns babies and their parents in reception centers, isolated children in foster homes, as well as children in danger at the request of the judge or Child Welfare Services. ALC also protects women victims of violence and their children, children victims of domestic violence, and victims of human trafficking. The association reaches out to these victims, shelters them in its CHRS in Nice, and manages the national reception and protection system for victims of human trafficking, called Ac.Sé. ALC also trains professionals to identify victims. Regarding the protection of victims of human trafficking and unaccompanied migrant children, the association is involved in several European networks and projects.

The integration mission is based on access to healthcare, housing, rights, and citizenship. Health consultations are organized for people in great difficulty. Support towards housing is provided to homeless people. The association informs about rights and obligations and helps to assert them. ALC also acts through training and employment, with springboard missions, integration projects, support for access to certified or diploma courses, and reintegration into work for those distanced from employment.

The coloring books were illustrated by Jean-Pierre Dirick, a professional cartoonist, creator of the character Tim the Detective, published in Pif Magazine, and Governor of Rotary District 1730. Jean-Pierre Dirick is also the creator of the character “Chouette,” the emblem of Young Friends of Animals. This initiative confirms the Rotary’s commitment to childhood and local solidarity, alongside grassroots associations.
