From September 21 to 28, Cannes is hosting the most beautiful sailboats in the world for the 36th edition of the Régates Royales, the ultimate event of the Panerai Classic Yachts Challenge, the largest classic sailing circuit.
For a week, about a hundred monohulls, from the 12 and 8 MJI to the Dragons and iconic classic yachts, will compete in the bay of Cannes.
Integrated into the Panerai Classic Yachts Challenge calendar in 2005 to close the season, the Régates Royales de Cannes is one of the most prestigious events of the entire international regatta season reserved for classic and vintage yachts. The number and diversity of boats present, along with the long history, make this event an extraordinary celebration dedicated to the sea and its protagonists.
The name Régates Royales, dating back to 1929, refers to the numerous crowned heads who participated in the early editions. However, it was in 1863 that Cannes hosted the first regatta—reserved for tall ships—organized by what was then the Société de Régates de Cannes.
The Regattas attract the best Dragon sailors for 4 intense and competitive days (September 23-27), all converging on Cannes to contest the victory.
The technical body of water leaves little room for improvisation, and only the most consistent succeed.
