RSA: the hunt for fraud becomes a treasure hunt

Latest News

32 million euros saved in five years, including 10 million already in 2016: the figures revealed yesterday by the Department President Eric Ciotti demonstrate that fraud detection pays off.

“To defraud is to steal,” says Eric Ciotti, President of the Departmental Council, who has made the fight against abuse, initiated five years ago, one of the priorities of his action.

The amounts recovered justify this eagerness in these times of budgetary scarcity.

Then there is the public moral aspect: “Having rights also means having duties,” is one of Eric Ciotti’s favorite maxims.

Most of the 25,000 beneficiaries are, of course, honest, but the Alpes-Maritimes Department penalizes those who are not.

The President of the Departmental Council of Alpes-Maritimes innovated by creating an “anti-fraud” brigade in July 2011. Composed of seven agents, it is tasked with detecting anomalies, processing cases, identifying fraud, and, if necessary, sanctioning them.
