The Mediterranean Parliament, whose Assembly comprises 125 parliamentarians, represents 25 Mediterranean countries. Since 2006, the Parliamentary Assembly has been chaired by Mr. Radi (Morocco).
It addresses important issues such as the environment, the dialogue of cultures, topics related to security and cooperation, the role of women in Mediterranean societies, energy-related questions…
The idea of creating this Assembly was proposed in 2003 by Rudy Salles, who suggested transforming the Conference on Security and Cooperation in the Mediterranean (CSCM) into a true Parliamentary Assembly. For Rudy Salles, “the Mediterranean has long been a dividing line between the north and south. It is time for it to finally become a link between peoples.”
And following the vote that took place on Saturday during the closing session of the Mediterranean Parliament in Monaco, Rudy Salles, Deputy and Deputy Mayor of Nice, was unanimously elected President of this Assembly for the next two years.
