As a new decree on the conditions of captivity for marine mammals is being prepared, Rudy SALLES, Deputy Mayor of Nice, wanted to alert public authorities about the socio-economic consequences that a new decree, disconnected from on-the-ground realities, could entail.
Indeed, Marineland Park alone employs 160 permanent employees and 600 seasonal workers and represents an annual turnover of 25 million euros.
A general inspection mission has been established to assess the impact of measures set for the captivity of marine mammals and the future of public presentations of these animals.
