The CSBJ pulled off a very nice feat in the 18th round of the Nationale by defeating Nice (18-13), who had come to Pierre-Rajon with the intention of winning.
At the bottom of the standings, and by no means favorites against the undefeated Azuréens in 2022, who had had a convincing win against Albi in the previous round, the Berjalliens delivered the perfect match, the one they absolutely needed to win to keep believing in their mission to stay in the league.
Ahead at halftime (15-3), the CSBJ struggled much more in the second half, hardly ever crossing into Nice’s half of the field. But with solidarity and despite missed tackles, the Nord-Isérois managed to hold back the Azuréen waves until Tachat’s forceful try (75th minute, 18-10). Cachet and then Verdu exchanged points through kicks, final score: 18-13.
Nice secured a defensive bonus point that will surely be useful in their race for the play-offs.
