With qualification in hand, Stade Niçois is ready to wrap up its regular season against a highly in-form opponent, Stade Dijonnais. It’s a sort of dress rehearsal before heading into the playoffs.
Awaiting the day that will decide if Stade Niçois can move from the stepping stone of the National to the Pro D2 living room (playoff Sunday, May 30, at Arboras against Albi or Narbonne), the last match of the season will allow the players from Nice to fine-tune their form and, at the same time, reconnect with their fans, even if it’s with a reduced audience.
Their opponent, Dijon, should not be a major obstacle. The Burgundians hold an honorable 10th place, even though after a laborious start, they have just achieved three consecutive victories.
The red-and-blacks will take the opportunity to rest some key players, such as the fly-half and kicker Matthew James, and give time on the field to the bench.
A focused match is expected, without any real stakes but not lacking in interest.
A good appetizer before the banquet? That’s the hope of the Nice supporters who will reunite with their team with real pleasure, after missing an entire season that, in any case, remains one of the most successful in a long time.
