After their victory last Sunday on the very challenging playing field of La Seyne, the checkered team hosted Nice for the last chance qualification match.
Jean Anturville’s players, logically destabilized by internal events at the club and practically assured of sporting continuity (see other information about the club’s internal situation), could consider a lost match with the defensive bonus point as a goal.
The match quickly turned in favor of the locals, who at halftime could boast a comfortable lead (14-3), the result of clear superiority against a team lacking action and reaction.
Tadijni’s feat, right at the start of the second half, put the Azurรฉens in the challenger position (13-10) but, despite everyone’s good intentions, the current capabilities did not allow them to go further.
The final result (27-13) unfairly punished the Azurรฉens, who, with a better start than the sleepy one they had in Romans, might have been able to challenge the result even though the defensive bonus point was well within their reach.
Points for Nice: 1 try from Tadjini, 2 penalties, and a conversion by A. Malavard
