Stade Niçois traveled to Mâcon for the 2nd day of the federal 1 championship.
Against a team considered to be one of the heavyweights of the group, the people of Nice achieved a feat by winning with a rather large score.
The victory was in the air from the first half: 15-29 on the scoreboard and already four tries scored, including one at the very end of the half.
But there were fears that the Red and Blue would react in the second half and impose their game.
However, the team from Nice showed grit throughout the game, in all areas of play. Progression, lineouts, scrums, counter attacks… the Red and Blue crossed the halfway line only a few times, allowing Nice’s dominance to take over.
Considering the end of the match and the prideful reaction of the Mâcon players, who climbed back a bit by scoring points until the 84th minute, it can indeed be said that the victory was hard-fought and deserved.
In short, the final score was 27 to 39 with 5 tries for Nice against 4 at the final whistle.
