Rugby: Stade Niçois snatches victory against a tough Chambéry team

Latest News

In front of a large crowd that reflects the club’s revival, Nice had to deliver a very focused performance to overcome a Savoyard team that demonstrated all its worth and returns to its homeland with a well-deserved defensive bonus point.

The victory for Nice is also well-deserved and was built with seriousness and diligence, particularly by the forwards who scored all 4 tries: two from rolling mauls, one by penalty after a series of scrums with obstruction by the opponents, and the last from a series of relay moves.

Facing them, Nice encountered a valiant team up front and brilliant in the back lines, showing an incisive and fast-paced game with beautiful combinations that allowed the Savoyards to score two well-crafted tries in the first half (14-14, two tries for each team).

It was in the second half that Nice secured their victory, scoring two additional tries, one of which was converted, against two penalties (26-20).

The Azur region team took their revenge for the defeat in the first match, but the encounter remained open and thrilling until the end.

Stade Niçois continues its march and stays on course while awaiting the outcome of its appeal against the administrative sanction, which, if confirmed, could set a different tone to its wonderful season.
