The Challenge of the Cathedrals is the rugby sevens tournament for students and young professionals from all over France.
Thus, on June 2nd and 3rd, the meeting is set in Nice to come and defend the colors of your diocese.
The Challenge of the Cathedrals was initiated in 2014 by the student pastoral care of Toulouse, which sought to combine sports and spirituality over a weekend. It’s an opportunity for Catholic students in France to gather every two years around the values of rugby.
After Aix-en-Provence in 2016, Nice will host the 3rd edition, which will take place at the Arboras stadium.
The goals remain the same: to be not only a sporting event but also a cultural meeting between and within the dioceses. The gathering therefore appeals to motivations other than faith, as would a pilgrimage, missionary festival, or religious celebration… There’s no need to have the same beliefs to share the same values.
Elodie, from Toulouse, is the event coordinator: “It’s pleasant to experience another type of gathering among young Catholic students. We rediscover our faith through the values of sport, visit, and discover places through the mass or the venues provided for our accommodation.”
“I hope the tradition continues and that a city will host the 2020 edition with as much joy as the people of Nice,” is her final remark before the weekend.
