The tone was set: This match had all the characteristics to be decisive for the continuation of the Nice team’s season. Against a direct competitor for the race to qualification, who had only lost at home to the formidable Béziers, a victory would have likely granted them a ticket to the final phase, which, let’s remember, is the declared (and fundamental for their future) objective of the Nice rugby players. And for the same reasons, a defeat, on the contrary, would have put a damper on these ambitions.
In the end, this draw (29-29) should be seen more as a glass half-full for the black-and-violets and consequently, as a glass half-empty for the locals.
It was a tough match as wished, with unwavering commitment from players of both teams, each seeking the KO against the other, with a match within the match between Adrien Malavard and the Tarn’s kicker, also resulting in a tie (8 goals each).
