The 2014 edition of the Saint-Jean festivities recaptures a village spirit that is warm, festive, and intergenerational. Everyone is united by a unique “dress code”: the white and blue sailor shirt and the yellow scarf! The streets, decorated in the patronal colors of yellow and blue, will host street performances, concerts, and more…
The official ceremony of the Saint-Jean festivities will begin at 9:30 AM at the Town Hall. On this occasion, the Nissa La Bella folk group will parade through the village to the Saint Jean Baptiste Church, accompanied by the Italian band Corpo Musicale di Grugliasco.
Subsequently, a High Mass will be celebrated around 10:30 AM with the presence of the Olivula Choir. The religious ceremony will be followed by a laying of wreaths at the war memorial and a reception at the Nautical Club with a performance by the Nissa La Bella group.
The afternoon will be recreational with children’s games starting at 2:30 PM at the Cros dei Pin beach, the “Everything that floats” race at the Nautical Club, and at the end of the day, a musical performance will be offered at Clemenceau Square with the presence of the R-SAJ Band and Lo Mago Dโen Casteu groups.
After returning from the beach, put on your sailor shirt and follow the R-SAJ Band, a ska reggae acoustic ensemble that will get you dancing in the village streets.
In the second part of the evening, Clemenceau Square will transform into a festive venue with the Niรงois group Lo Mago Dโen Casteu (pronounced Lou Magou dโen castรจo), who will offer a modern and Rock folk vision of local cultural heritage.
On Tuesday the 24th, the final festivities, and by no means the least, will feature the traditional procession starting at 8:45 PM on Avenue des Fleurs.
This year, the Saint-Jean fires, lit on the church forecourt, will be an opportunity to recall the history of this tradition and a fireworks display will conclude the festivities.
