This Wednesday, the City of Saint-Laurent-du-Var held its traditional 2013 Carnival. This year, the chosen theme was China. A total change of scene was assured with parades and a variety of diverse activities.
After a studious morning, the afternoon was dedicated to exoticism and entertainment. For 2013, the organizers chose the theme of China for the enjoyment of both young and old. For three hours, the children were able to discover a new culture, with dragons and other dances from the Land of the Rising Sun. A rich program of activities.
Visitors had an abundance of choices in terms of festivities and entertainment! A true firework of good spirits. From 2:15 PM, at the AGASC Leisure Center, Henri Revel, the Mayor of St-Laurent-du-Var, posed for the official photo. The children received small Chinese flags to parade through the streets of the City. After departing from the Bรฉrenger Stadium, the procession moved through various rendezvous points: Avenue du 11 Novembre, Avenue Franรงois Bรฉrenger, Avenue du Gรฉnรฉral Leclerc, Rue Desjosbert, and on the forecourt of the City Hall (side of Parc Layet).
A true parade in the middle of the City with the famous Lion Dance. Belinda Production will present a parade animated by the Lion Dance, a typical entertainment of Chinese festivals. For centuries, it has combined two different styles, elegance and vigor. Azur Fรชte offered on this occasion a Carnival Float to accompany “The Lion Dance” for the festive parade in the city center of Saint-Laurent-du-Var
Baby Charli also joined the celebration. His song, written 12 years ago, “KKOQQ”, resonated with the 2,000 onlookers. Settled in his pram, he too paraded, much to the delight of the children. A party concluded the Carnival amidst children and parents. 5:30 PM, end of the festivities. The children were still wide-eyed.
