It was at the Hervรฉ Allari dojo in Saint-Laurent-du-Var that the very good news was announced. The city has the immense honor of being part of the “Terre de Jeux 2024” community. The Saint-Laurent structure has been selected for the following combat sports: taekwondo, judo, and wrestling.
In less than four years, the Olympic flag will fly over the Azurean town and the Hervรฉ Allari dojo. All of this is thanks to a project started two years ago by the presidents: Jean-Noรซl Bahaderian (wrestling), Josรฉ Allari (judo), and the city council of Gilles Allari (sports assistant), Sรฉbastien Soucasse (head of the sports department) and the mayor Joseph Segura. We have selected the highlights of this historic day for Laurentian sports.
“It is a source of pride and honor for us. It rewards all the work we are now doing with the associations. A real partnership work has been done with those representing the community of Saint-Laurent-du-Var. In the end, three of them (out of 35) were selected. The spotlight on these three sports will also shine on the town. Martial arts is a source of pride for the Azurean city, which counts among its ranks many athletes who have shone at national and international levels. This election rewards more than 40 years of existence and training of champions.” Joseph Segura
“Our infrastructure is one of the most beautiful in France, so we thought, why not apply for this dojo. The very good news came on November 20th from the IOC (International Olympic Committee). It’s a great showcase for Saint-Laurent-du-Var. We hope now that one or more delegations will decide to come train with us. France will likely stay in Paris, but if we can have great nations like the Russians and the Japanese, it would be fabulous.” Gilles Allari
“The goal is not to disconnect the highest level from what makes sports today, which is mass sports and the younger ones. The challenge is for the enthusiasts of the communes to observe the Olympic elite. Obtaining this label allows us to appear in the catalog of infrastructures that can host these activities. Subsequently, the committees will then choose where they will go to train and prepare for the games. Our assets are that we are close to the airport and in a privileged setting. I think our assets are important to attract large institutions. Obtaining this label is a recognition for these associations and these volunteers who are present every day despite difficult times.” Sรฉbastien Soucasse
