Saint Laurent du Var: Two independent right-wing lists against Revel merge

Latest News

Five lists have qualified for the second round in Saint-Laurent du Var, a unique case in the Alpes-Maritimes. To prevent the re-election of Henri Revel (UMP), Joseph Segura (23.39%) and Franรงoise Benne (10.44%), both from diverse right, have decided to merge.

The merger does not imply the addition of votes because, ultimately, it is the voters who decide, but the situation becomes more complicated for Henri Revel.

Lionel Prados, the FN candidate, will also be on the starting line for the second round. He garnered 17.08% of the votes. Regarding the second round, he enigmatically announces that agreements “which go beyond personal interests are to be expected.”

Joseph Segura reached second place with 23.39% of the votes. The diverse right candidate is “happy with his result, especially against an incumbent mayor.” An outcome which, according to him, “clearly shows the desire of the people of Saint-Laurent for change.” For the second round, he calls for a rally to defeat the incumbent mayor. He has set an example by formalizing his alliance with Franรงoise Benne (10.44% of the votes).

Finally, Marc Orsatti (PS-EELV-MRC-PRG-PCF) is “disappointed” despite maintaining his position for the second round with 10.03%, but can only watch as a mere spectator in this dual showdown of the right in Saint-Laurent.

The answer will be revealed next Sunday…
