The association “Les Urbains de Minuit,” comprised of “real urbanites in real life […] artists and hosts […] all actors of a Niçoise life,” with its president Sonia Grdovic, has concocted an atypical journey through the heart of the city. Let’s revisit an event that should not have been missed.
The curious people of Nice were able to discover about forty artists exhibited in places little known to the general public. “The idea was first launched by Sonia on Facebook last summer,” explains Louis Dollé, one of the artists present at Saint Narcisse. “It was about highlighting the work of local artists but also alternative venues not supported by subsidies, especially those forgotten by so-called official networks.” Those who were unable to attend thus missed out on original exhibitions, live artists (music, texts, performances), all in “incredible places, encountering an underground scene,” notes Louis Dollé.
He, who expected a lot, is delighted with the experience which allowed him to showcase his work at Transformer, play music, and present Sonia Grdovic’s works at her art school, Orange Bleue.
According to the organizers, the event was a resounding success, as visitors came in large numbers and all venues were visited. The public, which provided enthusiastic feedback, also enjoyed the experience and is asking for more.
For those who enjoyed, and also those who would like to discover Les Urbains de Minuit celebrate Saint Narcisse, meet on October 29, 2013, for a second edition!
