Until Sunday, June 17, 2012, at the Musรฉe de Saint-Paul – 2, rue Grande-Saint Paul de Vence
-Nigel Ritchie and Nadine Vivier
Nadine Vivier and Nigel Ritchie are two artists, two “inseparables” who have been working together for over 35 years. One, Nigel Ritchie, is a wood sculptor shaping powerful and generous “totems”; the other, Nadine Vivier, presents delicate birds placed on paper. Both close and different, they offer us two complementary poetic identities…
The Musรฉe de Saint-Paul offers an immersion in the unique and sensitive world of Nadine Vivier and Nigel Ritchie.
The main theme of this exhibition is fidelity. Indeed, one of the first works seen in this exhibition is a painting by the poet from Saint-Paul, Andrรฉ Verdet, serving as a homage and a benevolent presence, recalling the role he played among our two artists. Fidelity also, because the exhibition aims to closely approach the peaceful “atmosphere” of Nadine Vivier and Nigel Ritchie’s workshop.
Their workshop, a place of life, work, and inspiration, along with its surrounding nature, is at the heart of these two artistsโ practice: wood, branches, and the forest for Nigel Ritchie, birds, their fragility, and their poetry for Nadine Vivier. In sum, Nadine Vivier and Nigel Ritchie offer a haven of beauty and peace…
