On the occasion of the thirtieth anniversary of the artist’s passing, the town of Saint-Paul de Vence pays tribute to him through two events dedicated to his memory.

The Commemoration

Saturday, March 28 at 11 am and 3 pm: The Mediterranean and Saint-Paul years of Chagall will reveal the close ties that united him with the village from 1966 to 1985.

Wednesday, April 15: Guided tour on the theme of “Chagall’s Circus” at 2 pm and 2:45 pm

Afternoon dedicated to children from the age of 5 (2 groups of 20 children)

On the program:

A Guided tour on the theme of "Chagall's Circus" 
Departure at 2 pm and 2:45 pm

The children will discover the festive and magical world of the circus so cherished by Marc Chagall, through a series of reproductions of the artist’s paintings.

Duration: 40 minutes
Meeting at Place De Gaulle
The visits will end at the cemetery with the laying of a wreath on the artist’s grave.

A poetic and musical tale inspired by the universe of Marc Chagall, featuring clowns and puppets.

For all audiences from the age of 5.

“Here is the story of a small circus troupe walking the tightrope of life like a tightrope walkerโ€ฆ Lola the trapeze artist, the Grandfather accordionist and magician, Jules the rooster, who sings and talks, and the little horse travel from village to village to share their universe of magic, poetry, and music. On their way, a shadow looms like a threat, those of the night pirates, ready to do anything to capture the little horse. An ally will join them, it’s the wounded soldier, the Corporal who returns from a cruel war in which he lost his heart but not his eyes. He will try to cage the beauty of young Lola so she cannot escape him. But the horse holds a secretโ€ฆ a secret that will save her.”

This day will conclude with a friendly snack at the auditorium where the children can share with each other the emotions of the day.

Not to be missed at Lโ€™Espace Andrรฉ Verdet!

All afternoon, paper stained glass windows and drawings sized 50/65 on the theme “Monsieur Chagall, tell us a story” will be exhibited, which the children of the Saint-Paul de Vence school have crafted.

Additionally, the space hosts beautiful paintings crafted by the schoolchildren of Vence.
